2006 Reference Statistics

As usual, December was a slower month at the reference desk. Here are the statistics.

Walk-Ins 372
Telephone 120
Instruction 61
Other help 183

Virtual reference 4
Instant message reference 31
Email reference 23

Total adult reference for December 794

With these numbers, 2006 did top 2004 and 2005 ever so slightly. Statistics over the last three years are rather flat.

The Obituary Database Helped

Thanks to our Western Springs Obituary database, I was able to find a name and go straight to the page on the microfilm tonight. No scanning page by page. Yeah!

Stems and Twigs

If you are asked what Western Springs store has a birdhouse in front of it, it is Stems and Twigs, 919 Burlington (4 doors east of Oberweis Ice Cream).

Rules of the Road

There used to be a few copies of Rules of the Road, with "For Reference" stickers on them, in the Local Interest file behind the Reference desk. These copies were to be retained for use in the library, in case we ran out of the freebee handout copies. Does anyone know what happened to them?

Comments

Okay, so, there is no longer a "Comment" button on the entries. So how do we make a comment?

Re: Rules of the Road

I don't know what happened to them, Nancy, but if they're missing, can you call the DMV and have them send us some more? --Kristin

Re: Comments

Nancy -- and everyone,
Rick eliminated the comments feature because we were getting so much spam. However, as I am doing right now, you can respond to posts by simply posting another entry. This might be better in fact because often people forget to check for comments (I do). --Kristin
