Internet use in Reference area in July: 996

For some reason I have not discovered as yet, You Tube will not play on Internet Computer #3 by the reference desk on Internet Explorer, but it will if you use Firefox. So, if some one asks for help, switch them to the Firefox browser.

The Department of Education will no longer be publishing its free guide to Federal School Codes, which have to be entered on Federal Student Aid forms. Applicants have to get the code numbers from the website http://ifap.ed.gov starting this fall.

This morning I reinstalled the Microsoft Publisher on Internet #3 in the reference area. It will no longer give us an error message on rebooting or ask for the disc while using the software.

I also reinstalled the Flashplayer on Internet #3, so YouTube can now be seen from both Internet Explorer and Firefox.

On Internet #5, I removed the pop-up message about trying Quickbooks.

Where have all the headsets gone?

Yes, I check this everyday, but I have no answers for you.

I made a mistake in the newsletter with the date of the first Lyric Opera Lecture. The real date for La Traviata is September 17. Please pass the word to anyone who asks you about the opera lectures.
