There's nothing better than a home cooked meal. However, with kids underfoot, than can be easier said than done. It's hard keeping focused on the task at hand, meanwhile making sure the eyes in the back of your head are alert. The solution: encourage your child's interest and participation. Kids crave food and kids crave fun. Combine the two and create an everlasting bond.
Cooking with kids is also beneficial, as it encourages reading skills, measuring conceprts, motor development (as they sift, stir and pout), ability to focus, and learning just a little bit of patience. Kids are also more inclined to eat nutritious food if they've been an active party in helping prepare it.
Please note that although kids will feel important and grown up being allowed to assist, adults should always be present to supervise. Adults should be the ones to put anything in or out of the oven or handle hot liquids, etc. Please be safety conscious and enjoy.
