Dream When You're Feeling Blue by Elizabeth Berg
Wednesday, April 2, 7:30 p.m.

Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant by Anne Tyler
Wednesday, May 7, 7:30 p.m.

On April 2, the Thomas Ford Library Book Discussion Group will join the area Big Read discussion of Dream When You're Feeling Blue, Elizabeth Berg's story of three sisters living in Chicago during World War II. Told through letters exchanged by the young women and their soldiers, the story is rich in period details depicting the patriotic home front.

Then on May 7, we will discuss Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant, one of Anne Tyler's early novels. As she nears the end, Pearl Tull recalls her life raising three children after her husband's desertion, and her children come to terms with their own lives and feelings about their parents. Tyler is a master at illuminating the complex relationships among family members in ways that are both funny and wise. "Superb entertainment," said the New York Times.

Ford Library's Book Discussion Group is open to everyone. Book reviews and other information concerning upcoming books are available at the Reference Desk. Extra copies of the books are available at the Library approximately one month before the discussion.
